Gunpowder, Treason and Plot

Ma homie Guy Fawkes and me - birds of a feather.

And so a year comes to pass since I last blogged about Guy Fawkes Day, which means this blog is at least a year old. (And only 57 people have passed out whilst reading it! No, before you wise-asses mention it, unreported cases do not count. If you start haemorrhaging reading this blog and do not email me within 24 hours, you don't even get to become a statistic. So there. --Editor) It's been a while since I last blogged, and a lot has been going on, involving exploding Directors of Studies, exploding exam results, and exploding parents. (But, uh, in a very GOOD way, Mom. Honest! --Ed) Anyhoo, the bottom line is, I'm still here, thanks to my extremely supportive college and my extremely supportive fellow medics.

My fellow medics rallying around me during my time of hardship, their eyes brimming pools of sympathy.

This year's our BSc year, in which we get to do almost anything we want (which I detailed in a previous post, after which many of my caring readers, concerned for my wellbeing and continued sanity, advised me to make like Forrest Gump and run the hell away from medicine --Ed) and this year I'm doing Psychology. Being the arse-licking stalker appreciative-of-established-scientific-genius and driven student that I am, I've managed to get Professor Simon Baron-Cohen to supervise my dissertation. For those of you who don't recognise the name (and who haven't read my arse-licking stalker rather positive posts about him) Professor Baron-Cohen is the cousin of Sacha Baron-Cohen, the actor behind Ali G and Borat. More importantly, he's a world expert on autism and the only lecturer whose work didn't feel like work to me last year.

You can see where this is going, can't you?

Ignore the hot female on the cover. She's only there because, well, this is the Daily Mail.

P.S. Well, that is if my scarily-named blog stalkers don't get to me first, of course.

First of all, Welcome back - we've missed you. Please stay. Best with the psycho. :-)

Finally!!!!

The blogosphere was about to puncture with the absence of your sustenance. Glad to see that all is well, thanks to your fellow sympathetic and brilliant and helpful and kind and witty medic friends.

Since this blog is titled Gunpowder, Treason and Plot, I can only assume that your supervisor is going to blow you up with gunpowder after he finds you betraying him and plotting to overthrow him. Don't you already have your hands full with your wife and kids?

EL

PS: I am haemorrhaging now, add me to the statistics.

You, sir, are horrible.

I want to buy my time back for the countless times I've visited your blog in hopes of a new post and disappoints every time.

I demand another "Borat-ty" post from you in compensation! The last one had me in stitches. (^-^)

Good to see you back, some of us were starting to get worried.

Glad to hear you're booked onto an alternative skills course, but if it's the one later this month I sadly won't be tutoring as I have other commitments that day.

I liked you better when you were a slacker. You were a lot more fun and had time for your friends. But I bet you still find time to keep up with Mr. Trump. ~ MA

Emoless Freak: Personal stuff? What personal stuff? I don't have a heart, remember? It's just a nice little alarm clock in my chest now. It's what keeps me TICKING, geddit? Ahahahaha why am I not on a comedy stage somewhere? :)

But yep, he's a great lecturer. I'll share some of his insights with you over a Big Mac and fries sometime. Since we all know how nice and civilised we get at McD's ;)

FH: Yep, he was (and is, unless some other dude's published some groundbreaking paper or something. And there are a LOT of dudes gunning for him. Who'd have known autism research of all things would be so cutthroat?) Aw thanks for the kind comment!

Little Medic: Ahaha - I can read your mind. Beat you to it! And ooOOoo, but I've wisened up. I is prepared now *waves restraining order* :)

Elaine: hMMMMMM *narrows eyes* now I'm not sure if you're wishing me the best with my chosen area, or calling my professor a psycho. Argh! You did that on PURPOSE didn't you?! :)

Momma Tracy: Aww thanks. Half the fun of posting is knowing I'll get a sweet reply from you :) and yep, Prof B-C has also been telling us about Asperger's and how people dianosed have cognitive gifts. Reminds me of you every time I hear it :) ooh I hear you also have a proper Blogger account now! Parents these days, they're all so technologically competent. Can't hide anything from em anymore ;)

Ms Ellisa: Aw thanks! I was wondering if people would get the Disney villains reference. I tried getting the hyenas one but then I thought people might think I was referring to myself (I, uhm, have a distinctive laugh. Ahem.)

Jessica: ARGH! Now I can't stop saying 'shut uppez vous' in EVERY conversation in a Mandy Moore-esque American teen bitch accent. Don't you think I already have enough people who think I'm crazy?! :)

Savante: Ahaha. Don't ever let my supervisors hear you call me just a little screwed up - there will be violence :P

Dear Angry Medic,
I have been alerted by MonkeyGirl's blog of a worthy cause I hope our brethren in the U.K. might support. WWW.POOPSTRONG.ORG. I have been prescribing this cure for weeks now in my ER and it works wonders.
Cheers.

Dear Angry medic

In “She Did NOT Just Say That!” you wrote that your lecturer said:
"Semen is a most dangerous substance. Always avoid it at all costs. Research has shown that it gives you the biggest tumour of all - pregnancy." -- explaining how squamous metaplasia is caused in the uterus.
Funny enough, one of my lecturers in gynaecology used the same quote as a salute to us. Pathologist must undoubtedly have some sort of congress where they exchange teaching techniques to entertain there students, witch is of proper professional standards.

Is the link under by any way a description of your blog name?

I hope you continue,
