NHS Blog Doctor: A Terrible Rumour

Sweet Lord.

I'm late in picking this up, but there's a terrible rumour on NHS Blog Doctor about Dr Crippen. He hasn't blogged since October and there's an announcement in the comments of his last post from someone claiming to be a partner at his practice.
There is no easy way to say this, but the doctor known as 'John' or 'Crippen' passed away in a road traffic accident mid-October. Although I appreciate the esteem in which many of you obviously held him, I must ask that the emails cease as of now - they are all redirected to our mail server and this is causing some difficulty.

This said, I thank all who visit here for their support of our dear, and much missed colleague.

Kind regards, Dr.P.
Someone tell me this is a sick joke, please.

Similar pleas on Cal's blog and Doctor Anonymous.

  1. That might just be a spammer. A similar thing happened to me while I was away at training. So do take that comment with a grain of salt, or whatever the expression is.

If it's true though, I'm very sorry to hear it. :(

  2. I'm going with sick rumour, the internet is full of freaks and until I see some concrete proof I just won't believe it.

Very sad if it is true though.

  3. Agree with both the above. His contributions have been much missed lately, and the thought that he might have died....

I think we would have heard from a more formal source if it were true.

Total hoax. He's registered as alive and well on the GMC website, and the hoaxer clearly knows little about the real doc.

  5. What I am not understanding is why he doesn't put up a post to put this rumor to rest? I mean even if he is fed up with blogging and wants nothing more to do with it, I feel Dr. Crippen is a very kind man and I just cant see him allowing this rumor to go on. Thats all it would take is one short post.

  6. Angry, go read what I just read at Crippens blog. I think it was comment number 161. It is beyond vile, but I guess it is an unveiling of this drama.

  9. Kenny: Whoa! Some people really HAVE nothing better to do in life than ruin others' lives (and here I thought it was just me). I wrote back at your place too!

Cathy: Whoa. Thanks for the heads-up! Who says drama doesn't happen in real life?

'Enter/Return'-Button-Loving Anonymous: Nah that's fine, you also helped inspire my next post. Guess the good doctor can stir up a controversy even when he's not around eh?
